Texas Discussion: "WildScaping" Your Lawn

Guest Speaker: Michelle Hart
"Thermography - An Alternative
to Mammograms"

Thanks to everyone that came to the meeting last night. We had a good turn-out.

Bob Fitzsimmons of Bob's Organic Garden shared slides about different plants that attract wildlife, such as the Desert Willow, Golden Esperanza and Possum Holly. He also explained the importance of having plants that provide a food source for the larvae & adult butterflies and for having plants for the different seasons. He does Walks & Talks where he can offer ideas, advice, etc. for an hourly charge, as well as design and landscaping. You can reach him at (830) 624-7666 or bob@bobsorganics.com. Thank you Bob, for sharing your passion with us.

Michelle Hart, of DITI Imaging shared information about Digital Thermography. We learned about many of the benefits to using Digital Thermography for routine breast screening, rather than Mammograms. There is no radiation exposure, no pain, and it can detect possible areas of concern up to 10 years earlier than Mammograms. She did mention that Mammograms have a place and are sometimes necessary. However, with all of the information in the media recently about Mammograms, this is an excellent alternative for routine screenings. It can also be used as a tool for other issues related to muscular pain, inflammation or infections. She shared that one man actually found out that he had a blocked artery in his neck from a digital thermography scan that was performed. Her office is in San Antonio, but she does occasionally come to New Braunfels and does screenings. She will be in New Braunfels this Saturday and will be working on an appointment basis. She can be reached at (210) 705-1232. Her website is www.ditiimaging.com. Another website to visit for more information is www.meditherm.com/breasthealth/. Thanks, Michelle for sharing your personal story and all of the valuable information.

Stamps Chiropractic donated 2 awesome door prizes, one of which was a Creating Wellness Assessment and a Bio-Meridian screening. Nicoya Restaurant also donated a $15 gift certificate. If you haven't been there, they have great food. Their address is 1528 E Common St, New Braunfels and the phone number is (830) 626-0229. They have a great lunch buffet from 10:30 am - 3:30 PM Tuesday - Sunday. They're also open from Breakfast tacos & dinner.

We had some new faces, which is great. We hope you enjoyed the meeting and will come back for more great topics.

The August Meeting will be August 25th, location to be announced. A company called Greenling will be speaking about delivering organic produce and other items to our area. They offer this service and I have good remarks from other people about them.

We're still working on the topic for the gardening segment.

We had a few people volunteer to bring a camera to take some pictures next time. If anyone would like to offer their skills, we are going to write an article to submit to the Herald-Zeitung about our group.

We'll have some more door prizes next time, so make sure you mark your calendars!

Thanks,
Susan Hall
